Mark McInnis is a photographer working chiefly in America’s Pacific Northwest. He’s known for bringing the natural beauty of the country’s upper left-hand corner to a wide range of clients and projects. With decades invested in the region, Mark delivers the moods, emotions, and landscapes of the Pacific frontier in a way few others can. We have known Mark for a couple years and love his positive energy and openness to any adventure.
"To most people, the word paradise conjures up images of deserted white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, piña coladas and crystal clear, warm, water. To me, however, paradise is found in rocky coves, impossibly tall Cedar trees, craft brews, and an ice-cold ocean. Enter Vancouver Island, a sparsely inhabited island off of British Columbia’s west coast. As a native Oregonian, I remember being awestruck the first time I visited this magical land. Everything felt so familiar, but it seemed rawer and far more isolated. Through the years, I find myself continually coming back to this special place and have made lifelong friendships with the humans pictured below. Throughout the world, Canadians have a reputation for being the friendliest people on the planet and it’s completely true! Between the pure wilderness, chilly waves and lasting friendships, I’d say this place is heaven on earth for a guy like me. Or, simply put, paradise."
With little hideaways like this, it’s no wonder why Vancouver Island is my version of paradise. That’s all I’d ever need.
It took Dane Anderson about 23 hours of driving, 2 boat rides and 1 border patrol shakedown to get to this wave. And still, I think I had the better view.
