What was the energy like on set? Did the location influence the vibe of the shoot?

Since Marcella and I were already friends, the energy on set felt effortless. She loves creating and was super excited to capture some beautiful shots, which made the whole process even more enjoyable. The location is really special to me—we have a vacation home in the region, and there’s a certain tranquility there that everyone who visits seems to feel. I had scouted all the locations beforehand, so once we were on set, everything flowed smoothly without any hiccups. It was one of those shoots where everything just aligned. Marcella even brought her own camera and took some stunning shots around the area, adding another layer to the experience.

Can you describe the moment certain shots were taken? What was happening around you?

One of the things I love about shooting in this region—and honestly, in Brazil in general—is that it feels like the set design is already done for you. Every location tells its own story. For example, I had scouted this small house on the road leading up to our place. When we arrived on the day of the shoot, there was a laundry line hanging outside, and the way the fabric moved in the breeze fit perfectly with the Slowtide towel we were shooting—almost as if it was meant to be. Those little details always make a shoot feel more alive.

What details—textures, colors, light—stood out to you while shooting in Brazil?

What I love about shooting here is that there’s no shortage of amazing spots—it feels endless. The light shifts so beautifully throughout the day, from soft pastels in the morning to deep golden tones in the afternoon. The colors are always so rich, whether it’s the ocean, the sky, or just the little details you find along the way. And the people here are incredibly warm and always willing to help, which adds to the whole experience. Everything just feels real and effortless.

How do you approach capturing the essence of a place beyond just the visuals?

I think it’s about truly being in the moment and letting the place guide you. It’s not just about what looks good but how it feels—the light, the sounds, the little details you don’t plan for but end up making the shot. I try to pick up on the rhythm of a place rather than forcing anything. If the photos can make someone feel like they were there, even for a second, then I know I’ve done something right.

What sounds filled the air while you were shooting? Music? The ocean? Street noise?

We didn’t bring any music to the shoot—nature set the soundtrack. The waves crashed in the distance, coconuts fell from the trees (which we had to be careful of, haha), and birds chirped all around us. It was peaceful but alive, with just the right amount of movement in the air.

What was the most unexpected or beautiful part of shooting there?

One of the most special moments happened when a local legend showed up. He’s someone we see from time to time, always passing through with his horses on the beach. I really wanted him to be part of the shoot, but we couldn’t track him down beforehand—he doesn’t have a cell phone and just moves to his own rhythm. Then, as we were setting up our first shots with the “Out of Office” towel, there he was, walking by at the perfect moment. It felt like pure serendipity, adding such a unique and unexpected beauty to the shoot.

How would you describe this shoot in three words?

Effortless, Dreamy, Vibrant ✨
