Slowtide blends thoughtful materials with artist-driven design to create textiles meant for everyday living. Pieces that move easily between the beach, the outdoors, and the home.
Our Story

Where It All Began
Slowtide started in 2015 between California and Hawai‘i. After long days spent in and around the water, founders Wylie Von Tempsky, Kyle Spencer, and Dario Phillips began to feel the towels they were using could be better. The design felt generic. The quality fell short. So, they started making their own.
What began as a better towel quickly became something more.

A New Medium for Art
Slowtide saw an opportunity in something simple. A towel could be more than functional. It could carry a point of view. By working with artists, photographers, and designers, Slowtide turned an everyday object into a place for creative expression. Each design begins with an idea and comes to life through color, pattern, and thoughtful detail.

Made with Intention
Great design deserves great materials. Slowtide focuses on thoughtful construction, premium fabrics, and details that hold up to everyday use. From weaving techniques to fabric weight, every decision is considered with longevity in mind. The goal is simple: create textiles that feel good in your hands and look good wherever they land.

Always Evolving
Slowtide continues to collaborate with artists and communities around the world while exploring new products, materials, and ideas. What started with a towel has grown into a broader collection of textiles for the beach, the outdoors, and the home. The approach remains the same: thoughtful design, strong materials, and a clear point of view.
