Juju is a non-profit organization dedicated to highlighting and supporting surf sites and initiatives in Africa. Founded by Mikey and Zelti February, Juju Foundation aims to bring global awareness and support to existing and emerging surf programs through various marketing and fundraising initiatives.
Through living and traveling in Africa, Mikey and Zelti have witnessed the significant positive effects that surfing and surf therapy can have on the youth and local communities. As such, JUJU will be highlighting all the influential people and initiatives that are bringing about positive change and connecting them to global brands and supporters. For this year’s collaborative towel, February, we will be donating partial proceeds to Waves for Change and Surf Pop. Our goal is to beat last year’s donation total of R45,000.

Waves for Change helps take vulnerable and lesser-privileged children from under-resourced communities in South Africa into the ocean through the medium of surf therapy. These children are referred from schools in under-resourced areas by teachers who are trained to identify children with potential behavioural or mental health issues.
Waves for Changes
Our collaborative Quick-Dry towel from last year, Good Juju, raised R24,000 for Waves for Change which has the potential to achieve the following:
  • Cover the programme costs for six children for the entire year
  • Cover the costs of five surf mentors for a month
  • Cover transport for an entire site for a month - that means picking up all the kids and delivering them safely to their communities after surf therapy.
Surf Pop aims to build a sustainable future for children and youth from disadvantaged communities around Cape Town through a powerful formula of surfing, education and nutrition. The non-profit organization currently has the following activities implemented: surf sessions, beach clean-ups, educational classes, vocational and life skills workshops and a nutrition program. Through our Good Juju Quick-Dry towel sales last year, we raised R24,000 to further support these efforts!
