MĀLAMA MAUI!
[Take care of Maui!]
Slowtide is proud to be collaborating with prominent Hawaiian designer, Sig Zane, on a Performance Quick-Dry Towel in support of the Maui Fires relief. Sig Zane Designs is rooted with a mission to educate and share what they know about their culture and the stories of Hawaiian tradition. The devastation is close to our hearts with two of our co-founder’s born & raised there and having one of our team members just lost their family home in this wildfire.
Sig elaborates on the design of the towel, “From the legendary ’Ulu grove of Mokuʻula to the birthing stone at the water’s edge; Lahaina has always been held in high regard both culturally and historically for us here at Sig Zane Designs. Now more than ever this special place is in need of support.” ’Ulu has been a staple food crop and natural resource in Hawai’i for many centuries. Taking a deeper meaning, ’Ulu has been a representation of growth and protection which we want to provide Maui with during this difficult time.
In the continuous care for Maui, 100% of the net proceeds will be donated to Chef Hui’s Feed the People Maui Fund. On average, Chef Hui makes thousands of meals per day for community members, first responders and volunteers in need.
